The Lock-Eater by Zack Loran Clark

If you like The Wizard of Oz, stories about magical wizards and great magic wars this is the book for you. I personally enjoyed the way this book reminds me of The Wizard of Oz and Nevermoor. Melanie the main character is what others call a lock eater, she can unlock doors by simply asking them to open. She is taken on a magical journey, pretending to be a genius prodigy of magic by Traveler, a gearling automaton who ran away from the Empire to try to defeat the corrupt head wizard. The book has a lot of heart, found family and is a feel-good book about magic.
