Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) begins with the story of Evelyn Wang, a Chinese American immigrant, and her race to keep her teetering family business running. A high-stakes meeting at the IRS with Evelyn's husband and father takes a sharp and completely unexpected turn, and Evelyn finds herself suddenly thrown into an interdimensional, surreal adventure. This movie dances easily between genres, leaving you just as unsure as Evelyn as to what's going to happen next. A funny, profound, and inventive movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once focuses on everything from the immigrant experience and family ties to unreality and time travel.
I really enjoyed this movie--it's great at balancing funny moments with moving ones, and its unpredictability and high-paced plot keep you on your toes. I can honestly say I've never seen a movie that's anything like this one. I can't recommend it enough!
