Teen Review: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

5 out of 5 Stars

“When I was seeing her out, in the ante-room, I thought she was about to cry.”

This book is so amazing. It’s one of the greatest of all time, or so I’ve been told. It’s about a married woman who falls in love with a count. She ruins her own life. Honestly, I can’t decide what part of this is Stockholm syndrome (2 months!) and what part of this is genuine enjoyment but I really did get attached to these characters. The train scene was so crazy. I enjoyed the storyline a lot but every part felt like a cage match with Leo Tolstoy. I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life after finishing this, but I will definitely read more Tolstoy.
