With her usual style of not letting any of the characters, let alone the reader, know everything that’s going on, Lapeña slowly reveals the secrets of a neighborhood. Someone has been breaking into homes and personal computers. When the hacker is discovered and confesses, good intentions turn deadly. Every character has secrets to hide or a desire to discover the secrets of others.
I enjoyed Someone We Know as well as the three other books Lapeña has written. Her fast pacing entices me to read just one more chapter. There are a number of clues along the way and several unlikeable people to keep the plot interesting. Lapeña is now my pick for escapist reading: well-written, engaging, fun, and not requiring a whole lot of thought.
