The Odyssey by Homer

The Odyssey by Homer, is a book that I severely disliked. This book is one that is forced upon high school students, either through short summaries or having to read it word for word. The description that occurred in this piece of work isn’t interesting, so rather than enjoying my reading time, I had to try to follow what was going on and attempt to create my own images. The language was hard to follow, so whatever intriguing parts of Odysseus’ story occurred, it was ruined by the author’s style for me. The work had potential though as the plot was interesting when I didn’t have to force myself to understand. Overall, I would not recommend this book. It could be a good read, but personally I had to force myself to try to enjoy it.
