Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany Jackson

Monday Charles is missing and her best friend Claudia seems to be the only person who cares; inquiries to Monday’s mother, their school, and even the police receive little response, and in some cases Claudia is straight up turned away. As events unfold and the reader gets glimpses into Monday’s life (before the disappearance) it becomes clear that her home life is a far cry from the stable family that Claudia has. The story progresses on several different timelines, which in all honesty can be difficult to keep straight sometimes and the book starts to seem longer than it needs to be with characters being unnecessarily vague (although as the reader gets to the end the reasons for the confusion become clear), but this book still breaks my heart when I think about it months later and I wholeheartedly recommend picking it up. Monday’s Not Coming is a story of friendship, perseverance, and how some kids can get lost in the cracks of society.
