Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood
In the world of Dr. Bee Königswasser there are three absolutes: Science is a necessary part of existence, Love will break your heart at some point, and last and most importantly Marie Curie was a total BAMF. All things Bee has known and done her best to exist with after a failed relationship with her ex-fiancé and working at NIH's neurology department. But, thankfully things are soon to change when Bee receives an acceptance letter stating she'll be moving temporarily to Houston, Texas, to take part in a joint project between NIH and NASA titled 'BLINK'; the brainchild of merging engineering and neuroscience to create the perfect helmet for astronauts. Unfortunately for Bee, she finds out her co-leader of the project, is the guy in grad school who absolutely despised her, Levi Ward.
I'd heard of Ali Hazelwood when her first book 'The Love Hypothesis' dropped, and everyone was questioning if it was a modern-day ReyLo fanfic, (I will always believe it is), but hadn't actually read anything by her until now. I really liked the rhythm of the book, it was fast-paced enough where it didn't lag, but also slowed down enough so it didn't feel the any details got overlooked out of trying to keep up with the drama. Unfortunately, some of the 'twists and turns' were cliche and could be seen miles away with a blindfold on, but with the humor mixed in, I felt like the clichés could be overlooked as I wanted to know precisely how the situations would get resolved.
All in all, I'd highly suggest this novel if you're interested in Women in STEM, feministic subplots, stacks on stacks on stacks of drama, 90s-00s references, and/or Star Wars.
