Skye Shin has heard it all. Fat girls shouldn’t dance. Wear bright colors. Shouldn’t call attention to themselves. But Skye dreams of joining the glittering world of K-Pop, and to do that, she’s about to break all the rules that society, the media, and even her own mother, have set for girls like her.

In the theme of Body/Fat Positivity, ‘I’ll Be The One’ really pushes fat-phobia into the open for a much needed confrontation. Being an overweight bisexual teen, Skye is hit on several fronts of her self-esteem, but she’s getting tired of it so she proves to herself and the public that regardless of body size/shape/look, nobody should be judged for their skills based on what they look like.

Unfortunately, as mentioned, Skye does get judged by her body instead of her skills by not only the judges (one who’s extremely rude) and public, but by her mother. If you’re triggered by abuse, be wary of this one as it’s possible you may feel affected.

If you’re okay with the aforementioned warning, I definitely suggest reading ‘I’ll Be The One’, and watch some fat-phobia get stomped out.
