If I stay by Gayle Forman- Book Review

5/5 stars

I typically stay away from books that will make me cry and have any kind of tragedy but this book is the exception. Mia, the protagonist, loves classical music and loves playing her cello. She is so passionate about music, she wants to play music professionally. She also loves her family and her boyfriend Adam Wilde. Adam is a little older than her but breathes and lives music like Mia. He is in a band that is becoming increasing more popular in the Portland area. Mia is a teenager who for the most part has a pretty great life, she has just started applying for colleges, she’s got a future. When tragedy strikes. Her father, mother, baby brother and her are involved in a fatal car accident. Mia is hanging on in the ICU with an impossible decision. Does she fight to stay alive knowing that not everyone survived the crash or does she stop fighting and let go. This book is amazing in going back and forth between past and present. There is also a second book “Where she went” by Gayle Forman telling us the story from Adam’s point of view in the future that I will also be reading.
