Tech Center Associate Part-Time

The Wheaton Public Library is seeking applicants for the position of Tech Center Associate.  Responsibilities include providing high quality customer service at the Tech Center Desk, assisting with public computer equipment and software, instructing groups and individuals, troubleshooting, and handling circulation of Tech devices.

Salary Range: $16.13/hour, includes benefits and IMRF Pension

Hours: 29 hours/week. Work weekends/evenings/special events as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists users and staff with public computer equipment and software, the Internet and various databases.      
• Teaches classes on software applications, smart phone use, and additional topics. Creates new class content when needed.      
• Trains library staff in the use of new equipment and software as needed.    
• Performs basic troubleshooting as needed.   
• May assist with installation of new equipment and software under the direction of the IT/Facilities Manager        
• Handle circulation of all Tech devices.
• Assist in maintenance and operation of all circulating technology collections.
• Assist in technology collection development.
• Manage all 3D printing operations.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Must have knowledge and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Windows and the Internet.  
• Must be comfortable and familiar with all types of mobile devices.
• Must be able to communicate with staff and the public in a non-technical level and in a cooperative and courteous manner.
• Must be able to remain current in computer operation skills, maintenance and basic troubleshooting.

Scheduling:

This position may require working during any of the hours that the Library is open, including evenings and weekends. Although a weekly schedule is established, the needs of the Library may require schedule changes and flexibility.
