Program Description

Event Details

Join us for this engaging discussion of Our Migrant Souls: A Meditation on Race and the Meanings and Myths of “Latino” by Héctor Tobar.

Taking on the impacts of colonialism, public policy, immigration, media, and pop culture, Pulitzer-prize winner Tobar decodes the meaning of “Latino” as a racial and ethnic identity in the modern United States. He interweaves his own story and that of his parents’ migration from Guatemala into an account of his journey across the country to uncover something expansive, inspiring, true, and alive about the meaning of “Latino.”

The same title will be discussed via Zoom on October 28.

This program is presented as part of the Neighbors Together Program Series in conjunction with 7 other local libraries and Literacy DuPage.
