Program Description

Event Details

Join us for this engaging discussion of thought-provoking non-fiction titles. In April, we will be discussing Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson. The author argues that racism is an insufficient term for the systemic oppression of Black people in America. This immersive, deeply researched narrative provides a masterful portrait of an unrecognized phenomenon. Wilkerson explores how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings.
