The end of summer is approaching, which means the 2022-2023 school year is just around the corner! See below for ways students can volunteer this fall, get assistance with their homework, and receive personalized book recommendations.


Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for ways to volunteer during the school year? Teens in grades 6-12 can earn service hours with the library! Fill out our Volunteer Interest Form and we’ll be in touch to work out a schedule.

Brainfuse HelpNow

Did you know you can access live online tutoring with your library card from home? WPL patrons have access to Brainfuse HelpNow which hosts homework help offerings for all ages. Beyond access to live tutoring from 2-11:00 pm daily, K-12 and college students can take lessons on all subjects plus submit writing samples to receive personalized feedback. This resource also has practice exams for the GED, ACT, SAT, GRE, AP, and more.

Fill out our Book Match Form to receive personalized book recommendations. Don’t enter the school year empty handed! This service is available for all ages.

Summer Concert: The StingRays

Tuesday, Aug. 9 • 7 pm • in-person

Dance to the greatest rock ‘n roll from the 50s, 60s, and 70s! This energetic foursome will get you on your feet and test your trivia knowledge of your favorite oldies. Hosted on the library’s West Plaza. No registration required.

 

Back to School Bash: Interactive Bubble Making Stations

It's almost time to go back to school so let's make the most of the summer! Join Jason Kollum for Interactive Bubble Making Stations on the library's West Plaza. Geared for children and their families. No registration required.

 

Teenspace: Last Summer Hurrah!

Thursday, Aug. 11 • 3 pm • in-person

Teens are invited to participate in summer sports and activities on the West Plaza. One big last summer fun program provided by the teen space before the school year! Registration is required.

 

Back to School Stations

Wednesday, Aug 17 & Thursday, Aug. 18 • in-person

Drop by the Youth Services Department for some back to school activities. No registration required.
