Renewals
Most material may be renewed for 2 weeks. Exceptions: Items on hold, videos and DVDs may not be renewed. Material that is not overdue may be renewed online through My Account. Material that is less than 5 days overdue may be renewed by calling the Circulation desk at 630-868-7515. Any fines accrued will be added to your record.
Holds
Wheaton Public Library cardholders may place holds on items that are checked out or otherwise unavailable. (Holds are now accepted for videos and DVDs.) You may call the library to request a hold or place them yourself through the online catalog. Login to My Account, search the catalog and click the Place Hold link. You will be notified when the item is ready to be picked up. (See below.) You will not be able to place a hold on material when a copy's status is Check Shelf or Recently Returned. In that case you may call the library at 630-868-7520 and ask that the copy be pulled for you and held at the Main Desk. Items will be held for 4 days.
E-Mail Notices
Sign up for E-mail Notices to get Courtesy Notices before items are due, Hold Notices and First Overdue Notices. Courtesy notices are sent only to email addresses. Hold Notices are sent the next morning, after your hold has been triggered. To add or change an email address on your account login to My Account and click the Modify Personal Info button. You may also call the library at 630-868-7510 or send an e-mail message to circ@wheatonlibrary.org.
Courtesy Notices
If you have a current email address in your account you will receive a notice three days before items are due (one day before DVDs and videos are due.) You must have a current email address in your account in order to receive Courtesy Notices. To add or change an email address on your account login to My Account and click the Modify Personal Info button. You may also call the library at 630-868-7510 or send an e-mail message to circ@wheatonlibrary.org.
Overdue Notices
You will receive a notice on the third day items are overdue. A second notice is sent via U.S. mail when items are one week overdue. A bill, which includes a non-refundable $5.00 processing fee, is mailed two weeks after the second notice is sent. Delinquent accounts are sent to collection.
Holds & Overdue Notice Notification
When an item on hold is available for pickup, or if an item checked out is three days overdue, the library will notify you in one of three ways: e-mail, telephone or U.S. mail. You will receive a telephone call from our computerized telephone notification system unless you tell us you would prefer to be notified by e-mail or U.S. mail. To update your notification method login to My Account and click the Modify Personal Info button. You may also call the library at 630-868-7510 or send an e-mail message to circ@wheatonlibrary.org.
